What is travelling? 

Travelling is an improvement: professional, cultural or self improvement. It changes mentalities, habits. To travel, you have to be open-minded in order to share with the inhabitants, discover other ways of living or new languages. Many people realize the real world, the poverty and the impoverishment when they travel and come back changed. So, they learn to live in a better way for a better world. Indeed, during a trip we meet new people, we take confidence in ourselves and never return the same.

Nowadays, travelling is easier. A couple years ago, only wealthy people were able to travel the world, but it changed. Indeed, low cost flights were born to allow everyone to move around the world. In France we are lucky to have big airports like Paris Orly or Paris Charles de Gaulle, which is the first French one. It offers more and more flights to go everywhere. Moreover, the safety has been increased in order to encourage people to move. Lastly, online platforms are important today and a lot of travellers are using it. They do not have to go to a tour operator anymore and can do it from their couch. For example we can find the website "booking.com" : it compares for you the hotels' prices and find the cheapest one.

There are more and more exchanges, and the first tourism destination is Paris, concerning the USA, it is the most visited country. If you want to travel, you can do it in several ways: family or friend trip, linguistic trip, school exchanges, business trip...

And now, let's talk about our stories! 

Our different trips 

1) Linguistic trips 

Mélanie  

I travelled to Brighton, England in July 2018; it was my first journey on my own. I decided to go there to improve my oral English. I was in a school named St Giles with a lot of other foreign students from all over the world. It was a great experience because I did not have the choice but to speak English as I was the only French native. At first, it was a little complicated to understand everyone, but after three days, I was starting to think in English; this is when I realized it was going to be an efficient experience.

Eva  

I have been to Germany many times. I was in high school when I met Charlotte, my penfriend who has become a real friend. Indeed, I went to her house twice in summer after that. I lived with her and her family (her parents and two sisters) who were really kind to me. I felt part of the family. I spent six weeks in Tauberbischofsheim, the small town where they live. During that time I went to school with her to discover the courses. I visited Würzburg and Stuttgart. I ate traditional German food like bretzel or « currywusrt ». It was such an empowering experience. 

2) Familial and scolar trips

Clémence  

In 2013 when I was in middle school I went to California with my family. I visited the Hollywood Studio I was so excited, and it was very interesting. I saw the “Wisteria Lane” street where the series Desperate Housewives took place. I walked on Venice Beach and Beverly Hills Avenue where all the most luxurious shops are. I still have fond memories of the time I spent there with my family. I still remember all the fast-food restaurants we went to and the very greasy food that was served there.

Inès 

When I was in secondary school, I travelled in Andalusia, a big area in the south of Spain. During this travel, I was in a host family in Malaga, she was really welcoming with me. It was in may and it was very hot, around 42°. I visited different towns, like Malaga, Cordoba, Sevilla et Grenada. My better memory was the discovery of the Alhambra in Grenada, it is a really amazing fortress. The days went with visits, shopping with my friends and ice cream because of the heat.  

For me, Andalusia goes with welcoming area, heat, tapas and sangria. 

Léna
I have travelled a lot since I was younger, but the destination I liked the most is Greece.

Indeed, when I was 14, I went to Greece with my family, and friends. When I arrived, I was impressed by the beauty of the landscape and the Club in which I spent my holidays. In this Club, there were many activities, I was never bored. I created a very strong link with the animators of this Club who shared my holidays while I didn't know them before I arrived. I made a lot of friends. I also made many visits, and discovered the beauty of Greece. It is a really wonderful country.
Through this trip, I was able to discover extraordinary landscapes and I met new people who are still my friends today. I will never forget this trip that has greatly enriched me.

Our dream's destinations 

Léna & Mélanie  

Our dream since our childhood has been a road trip to visit the United States. We love this country for its vastness and its culture. The cities we are looking forward to visiting the most are New York City, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Las Vegas:  

• New York City, to walk on fifth avenue and to feed squirrels in Central Park. 

• New Orleans to visit the French quarter and to attend the annual carnival. 

• Los Angeles, to admire and take pictures in front of the Hollywood sign, cycle on Venice beach during the sunset.   

• And finally, take road 66 to go to Las Vegas to gamble and being impressed by the shows and the lights.

Clémence  

 My dream trip is to go to Dubai, because it is a luxurious city where you can see the highest building in the world and the beautiful Abu Dhabi Mosque. The way of life in Dubai is very close to my vision of life. It is always hot and sunny there. It is a city of opportunities where you can start from scratch. It is so fascinating. 

Inès  

My dream destination is to go to Bali because for me Bali is matching everything I like: sun, beach, yoga, surf and a culture that appeals to me. When I will go to Bali, I would like to visit the Monkey Forest, swim with turtles, learn how to surf, practice yoga, visit rice terraces and take a lot of photos.

Eva

I really want to discover Canada for the combination between towns and wide-open spaces. The whole country seems wonderful: the Niagara Falls, the Banff national parc, Toronto or Montreal. In my mind, this country needs to be seen in every season so I could go there many times.
